the volunteer program for teaching kids how to code
"I love when the volunteers come to teach us coding, it's my favorit part of the week becuase it's so fun playing Angry Birds using coding."
Mike | Student
Why Be Involved
all kids should lean the fundamentals of coding
Software development is integrated into all aspects of our lives, from smartphones to cars, and even in our clothing. In addition to learning about code, the kids learn computational thinking - the ability to break down a large task into smaller steps. If we can teach our kids this fundamental process in association with coding, we can lay the foundation of a better tomorrow - for them, and for us.

"It has been an absolutely FANTASTIC experience and we have loved having [the volunteers] here, thank you VERY much! The kids are sad when you leave."

What is Involved
great opportunity for anyone to volunteer
Every week, employees of private companies volunteer in public schools to teach coding to kids.
You don't need any background in teaching or coding to be a volunteer. KidsCode can provide learning materials and guide you through the curriculum. You just need a passion for helping and working with kids. Companies participating in the program can:
  •  Partner with elementary school(s) to determine day and time to volunteer
  •  Develop curriculum based on time available in school(s) (total weeks volunteering)
  •  Curriculum built from Code.org
  •  All volunteers must pass a background check (typically can utilize the same background check from employment)
"Helping our community is a fundamental part of our business. Being able to volunteer and teach kids how to code is a great way for our employees to volunteer ."
